Lenten Mission

Come, Taste & See, Hear & Feel the Goodness of the Lord!

February 25th, 26th and 27th at 7:00 PM

Monday:  6:30 PM Mass followed by Mission talk on Repentance.

Opportunity for confession following talk.

Tuesday:  5:30 PM Mass followed by light refreshments. 

                  Mission talk will begin at 7:00 PM on the topic of Healing.  Opportunity for anointing after talk.

Wednesday:  7:00 Closing Mass with the theme of the talk on Eucharist.

New Pastor Appointed!

We extend a warm welcome to Fr. John-Nhan Tran!  Fr. John is currently pastor of St. Bonaventure in Avondale but will officially become pastor of St. Joan of Arc at the end of September.  He is also a current member of the Archdiocesan Priest Personnel Board as well as a Master of Ceremonies for the Archdiocese.  Plan to meet and visit with Fr. John at our 60th Anniversary Picnic on September 30th!

Service Hours Opportunity

The following opportunities are available for students needing service hours:

Parish Office work - assist with filing, copying, data entry and shredding any weekday between 8 AM and 4 PM.

September 30th - Assist the the Parish Picnic

Confirmation Class of 2008 -Ministry Form Envelopes Due

Cadidates for Confirmation in the Class of 2008 are reminded to turn in their envelopes with their blue ministry form, their polo shirt size and $15 for the cost of the shirt.  This must be turned into the Parish Office no later than 4:00 PM Friday, August 21.

Confirmation Class of 2009 Now Forming

Applications are now being accepted for enrollment in the Confirmation Class of 2009.  All teens entering grades 9 through 12 who are not currently enrolled in our program but are seeking the Sacrament of Confirmation should pick up a form on the tables in the quieting room.  Students enrolled in this program will enter a three year preparatory journey that when successfully completed will culminate in the reception of the sacrament in the fall of 2009 Completed applications are due in the Parish Office by Friday, September 7, 2007

Corpus Christi Eucharistic Procession

Ascension of Our Lord and St. Joan of Arc Churches invite you to join us in a Eucharistic Procession on the Feast of Corpus Christi.  Holy Mass will be celebrated at Ascension of Our Lord at 2:00 PM Sunday, June 10th.  The Eucharistic Procession will begin immediately following the Mass.  Benediction and reposition will take place at St. Joan of Arc. The route is approximately 2 miles long.  Please wear comfortable but modest clothing.  You are welcome to bring water.  Wheelchairs and strollers are welcome - no motorized vehicles, bicycles, skates or skateboards please.  Busses will be available to transport parishioners to and from their home parishes.  Banners, if carried, should not have the images of Our Lady or the saints.  Questions, please call AOL at 652-2615 or SJA at 652-9100.

Feast Day of St. Joan of Arc

We will begin celebrating the 60th Anniversary of our parish on the Feast Day of St. Joan of Arc and will continue until the actual dedication of our parish in September.

On Wednesday, May 30th, the Feast of St. Joan of Arc, we will have a Holy Hour with the Hope Monstrance from 6:30 PM until 7:30 PM.  We will have fellowship immediately following.  Since St. Joan of Arc is the patron of soldiers, we encourage parishioners to bring photos of family and friends who are serving or have served our country to place in the Patron Prayer Space in the church.  Photos may be brough to church  Memorial Day weekend.  If you know of a soldier who would like to receive a care package from St. Joan of Arc parish, please call the parish office with the name and address.  If you would like to donate non-parishable items to the care packages, please bring items to the parish office.

Confirmation Service Opportunity!

Because many of our Confirmation Candidates are off for the Mardi Gras Holidays we are soliciting your help!  On Friday, February 23, 2007 we will need students to prepare a major parish mailout.  If you are interested, just arrive at the Parish Office for 10:00 AM and plan on staying approximately 2 hours.  Yours assistance will be greatly appreciated.  Call Mrs. Helena if you have any questions.

We still have some opening for the Candidates 2007 to assist with Ash Wednesday Services.  If you need a Parish Event/Service Hours, please call to sign up to help on Wednesday, February 21, 2007.  Hours of service are 7 AM, 8:30 AM, Noon, and 6:30 PM.

SJA Long Range Plan Revealed!

All interested parishioners are welcome to attend the presentation of the Long-Range Plan for St. Joan of Arc Parish and School.  ISPD consultants Tom Bagwill and Mary McClendon will reveal their recommendation for us on Tuesday, January 16th at 7:00 PM in the Church.

There is a waiting list for volunteers, but registration for campers is ongoing. Applications can be found at the Hacienda in the quieting room of church. Also please help us out by picking a pepper and donating one or more of the items needed. You can make a difference!

Feast of Corpus Christi Mass & Procession

Holy Mass: 3:00PM
Immaculate Conception Church, 130 Baronne St.
Celebrant: Archbishop Alfred C. Hughes

A Corpus Christi procession will immediately follow at 4:00PM from Immaculate Conception Church to St. Louis Cathedral, where we will have Eucharistic Adoration & Benediction.

The Hope Monstance, blessed by Pope Benedict XVI, for special use during the extended Year of the Eucharist, will be used during the procession and Holy Hour. A plenary indulgence is available for all those present and properly disposed.

A special invitation is extended to youth.

You should be making an effort to serve not only your mass ministry requirements, but your Parish Event, Service Hours, and Youth Event (See Truth Unplugged).
