EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS

The Communion Rite in which we are fed the Body and Blood of Christ is the climax of the Holy Sacrafice of the Mass.  The signs of a call to this most sacred ministry to assist the priests with Communion are: a desire to serve the community in this way and a willingness to commit oneself to a serving schedule.  The person must be in good standing with the Church and approval of the pastor is required.  Eucharistic Ministers are trained by the Archdiocesan Office of Liturgy and are commissioned for a period of three years by the Archbishop.

Deacon Arcuri - (985) 652-9100

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS FOR SHUT-INS

These Ministers bring Communion to those who are homebound for various reasons.  The visits include shared prayer, religious instruction when needed, and news of the parish that helps the homebound to feel united to the Church community.  Communion will be brought to the hospital on request.

LECTORS (READERS OF THE WORD)

The duty of a lector is to read the Sacred Scriptures at Mass.  Lectors spend time preparing the readings in order to articulate the Inspired Word in the best way possible.  If you have a good, strong voice and are willing to be scheduled, you are invited to join this ministry.

USHERS

The Ushers have the responsibility of passing the offertory baskets and of arranging for a family (or couple) to bring the gifts to the altar.  When the Church is crowded, the Ushers assist in seating parishioners before Mass begins.  The Ushers also monitor the orderly flow of the Communion line.  All adults who have a desire to serve are welcome to join the Ushers.
